Have you ever wondered where creative people got their ideas from?
Do you think some people were born creative and others were not born creative? Whilst I agree that some people are more talented than others I believe we were all born creative.
We were created to create.
Creativity to me is being able to connect the dots from experiences and solving a problem or telling a story based on your experience.
“All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original”.
More often than not, creativity is usually inspired. Inspired by stories and experiences.
Here are the top five places where I find creative inspiration.
How did we ever survive before Pinterest? It’s so funny that whenever I think of a random DIY idea to hack and I pop into Pinterest I would find that someone in another geographical location has done that same thing and even shared tutorials and tips.
There is so much inspiration on Pinterest and it’s also great because it comes with tutorials. From fashion to photography, food, branding, home improvement and a lot more. Pinterest is the warehouse of creativity.
Before social media and the internet, we had traditional media, newspapers and, magazines. The thing about new magazines is you would have probably seen an editorial on the internet so seeing it again doesn’t spark anything. Old magazines spark nostalgia, show raw talents in its original form and its generally just fun you can easily pick up a hairstyle or a dress style from old magazines.
You would catch me any day lost and soaking in creative ideas from old magazines and newspapers.
Nature is so inspiring if only you can take time out and observe. Take some time out to take pictures of your surroundings, watch the rising of the sun, watch the flowers bloom and the clouds gather. there is so much beauty created by the master creator himself . Nature is so beautiful, powerful and inspirational.
Art is Life and Life is Art! everything is ART!
I find so much creative inspiration from visiting art galleries and art exhibitions. Appreciating the work of artists and hearing the inspiration behind the art is so inspiring and empowering.
HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS
I once went to a restaurant to eat and I left the restaurant feeling completely at peace and full of clarity. I went to the restaurant to eat but I left with so much more. I later discovered that it was the ambiance and natural elements of décor that gave me that peace and I was inspired to recreate it in my living space.
This is a bonus point , but it definetly had to make the cut.
Instagram is a mobile photo gallery that shows loads of content from creative people all over the world. So there is nonstop inspiration at the tip of your fingers.
Don’t get it twisted Instagram can be a bit tricky and can induce anxiety so you must follow people that inspire you and bring you peace.
